Rev. Dr. John Richter

Born and raised in Cullman, Reverend John is a lifelong member of St. John’s He has been on staff since 2003 and was formally called as Senior Pastor in 2014. Previously, John served as Religion Department Chair at the Dunham School in Baton Rouge, LA. Ordained in 2002, John holds a B.A. in history from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, an M.A. in the same subject from Ole Miss, an M.Div from Pepperdine University, and the Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary.

John also serves on the Board of Directors for the Evangelical Association of Reformed and Congregational Christian Churches and is an adjunct professor of religion at Wallace State Community College.

John has one wife, Tiffany, one daughter, Vella, and one son, John Isaac. The family has two cats, Rainbow Claire and Tom Robin, adopted at Vella’s request and in hopes of getting rid of the snakes that like to hang around their house. John enjoys the idea of running and likes to read and travel.

You can follow his old doctoral blog at http://reverendjohn.wordpress.com. He also likes the idea of writing, but as his blog reveals, it is mostly still a dream. Nonetheless, if one wants to dig into the riches of the tradition of churches like St. John’s, it’s not a bad place to start.
